About all I could muster in a drought high heat year. I feel for the southern growers after the year we had in southern ohio.
This is off my 5.98 from last year. Weighed Sept 2nd at 4.01lbs.
Since I lost my pumpkin plants early this year this was the highlight to my season. My dad finally broke 1k with a 1015lbs. This is his first since he started growing in 1998. It was also selected the weighoff best looking which at circleville is the Nancy Martin award. Congratulations dad I'm proud of you.
This year was a challenge to say the least. We went for almost 2 months with no rain . We had temps mid 90s most every day and 70s at night. I was able to water as my creek is spring fed and never ran dry. Just couldn't beat the heat, the tomatoes just didn't want to grow fast in the heat. I had several between 3lbs and 4lbs but only the 2 over 4lbs. Last year everything was over 1lbs more all the way around.
Since we had freeze few days ago pumpkin patch and tomato patch got cleaned up and put to bed till next year. Only thing I can hope for is next year's just alittle cooler than this year was. Those of us in the northern states are starting to see what challenges those of you in the southern states have delt with for years.
