Over the years different growers have told me that the little frogs which take up residence on a growing pumpkin are good luck. I'm not a big believer in good luck. Last year I had a �lucky frog� that lived all summer on the pumpkin that became my 1940 Pugh, which won at Elk Grove. Maybe it was a lucky frog & it protected that pumpkin. Maybe it helped it go 9% heavy. Maybe I'm just an old, cynical guy who believes that the only kind of luck is bad luck.
