7. Reflect on What Worked
Many growers need to take a rest and with the ups and downs of this hobby it can be critical. However, a “rest” does not mean doing anything, but it means doing something different. In order to keep the progression positive, the goal should be to take a moment to reflect on what has been working for you and what areas you need to improve on. This can be time out of the patch but you are still working on refining your growing practices when you get back into the patch.
Do not spend much time out of the patch, but take a little time to look at the areas you can improve on and get some new ideas to make these improvements. This can provide you with a new vigor and improve your interest and focus in the patch which will also improve your final weights on the scale.
Searching for research is another option that can allow for some quality computer time to gain some more information to hopefully improve your growing skills.
The key to be able to reflect on your own practices is the need to properly document what you are actually doing. While this concept is universal, the method of implementation is up to the grower. Some ideas include a bigpumpkins.com dairy, images on your phone, a slide show, a desk calendar, a note book, or a white board. The platform you use does not matter; the goal is to select something that you will actually use.
We can all be a busy as bees, but even they need to take a break at times.
Consider developing a SOP (Standard Operating Practice) for your growing process. While this information may be a little over the top, you can tailor it to your style and level of detail.
