Not how or when I wanted to pick this pumpkin, I wish I knew for sure why it went down, none of the splits went into the cavity. I'm wondering if it was either yellow vine disease or a mosaic virus. I'm trying to figure out my strategy for better cucumber beetle control next year, they have been my nemesis these first two years.
Fortunately I was able to collect the seeds from this pumpkin, they appear mature but I will germ test them once dried out, it seems like a good cross on paper with the 2618 Mendi x 2641 Paton. If nothing else I can hopefully give them away and trick more poor suckers into growing these heartbreaking things lol.
