Subject: seed leaves curling

both plants in the patch have curly seed leaves and the back ups also have curly seed leaves.they come up yellow,start turning green and then start curling.any suggestion? billy

I've seen this happen to the true leaves if the plant gets too hot....plant wilts, then leaves curl....not enough water. If you are refering to the original "dicot" leaves, then it is usually a genetic defect.

Correct! The original two leaves that were in the seed.

Sometimes when you file the seed too far you will do slight damage to the edges of the seedleaves. As these damaged seed leaves grow and expand the edges aren't as pliable and end up curling like the elastic corners of a bottom bedsheet.......sound possible in your case Billy?...G

thanks stan and glenn...i know i filed the edges really close,until i saw space.i thought i was doing a good thing, guess not.next year i'll file alittle soak them longer.
p.s glenn i hope to see ya at the bethpage this year(if i don't blow them up again :) )

I to have noticed that the seed leaves act as a buffer for continued stabilized plant growth. It seems that the seed leaves support (stabalize with the ground) the expanding plant during the early stages of developement.
