Can someone please tell me if, on the day after burying all the vine ends and culling off the other pumpkins, you may see a pause in the growth of the one that is kept on the plant. I purposely left immature leaves at the ends of each vine that I anticipated would get a growth spurt similar to what the pumpkin sees. Is the grow juice going there for the time being or have I just grown a 20 pound pumpkin and cut every chance of getting a big one off the plant 2 days ago. Thank you in advance.

How long do you consider a "pause"?

If your weather has been like ours, your growth problem is at least in part due to cold temps. The past two nights, dipped well into the 40's. The temperature drop slowed my growth dramatically.

It did get cooler after that 100+ stuff last week but still high 50s. And it had one night after that really nice rain that was just as cool as last night but didn't show sighs of slowing. thanks for the response Beet.

I was thinking along the lines of Beet.
Give your pumpkin a few days, and see if she picks up agian.

The plant might have gone under a slight stress from the loss of it's growth. It should rebound in a matter of hours or days. Mine did!

The answer is that apparently it does shock it and then rebound, or at least that is what this one has done. Only a quarter inch gain per day for two days straight on the circumference and then about 3 inches/day again.
