I have a 2 small plots of about 3X5 feet with a pumpkin on each vine that weighs about 10 lbs. I have always wondered how much water to use and how often. I am not planning on growing a 1,000 lb pumpkin just yet but would like to grow as big as possible. Any amount, suggestions, methodologies, routines would be appreciated.

Not sure about a plot that size, I have 2 Big Max plants that have consumed a 35 X 50 area with 2 pumpkins on each plant. When the weather is dry I usually put 4 gallons per plant every other day and use 4 gallons of water with Miracle Grow once a week. Plants this size use that much water in a hurry. When I check it every other day the ground around the main stem is already dry. I would guess for plants your size maybe 1 gallon every other day and miracle grow once a week. I'm fairly new to this so I may be wrong.

You want the soil to be moist but not soggy. The amount of water will be determined by your soil structure and drainage.

Enough water to equal an inch a week is a safe bet. Be sure to include the rainfall.
BTW- Monty Python and the Holy Grail...one of my favorite movies.
