If I was to sell some nice orange pumpkins what would they be worth if they weighed 500, 600, 700 , 800, 900 or 1000 lbs.

It seems they usually net about $1.00/lb for the 500+lb class. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this to decrease. Indeed with some of the issues around here, that figure could increase. Supply vs demand.

I collected data on that, and it never made any sense. Lots of people are willing to sell their pumpkins or give them to stores for next to nothing.
My opinion is that you should require at least 50 cents per lb for 500+ with a slight premium for good lookers.
If you get $1 lb on 500+ in Connecticut, I should consider shipping them out there by the semiload....

depends on supply and demand in our area you can get anywhere from .50 to 1.00 depending on the customer and quantity the person is buying there are a lot more big pumpkins available today than a few years ago so that in itself will drop the price in certain areas

Make your contacts early! I waited 'till after the weigh-off last year and was too late. The businesses that have a fall decorating budget had already spent their allocation. Start making your contacts now. Between $.50 and $1.00 per pound with a premium for good color and good shape. Don't be afraid to stop in and ask every business in your area. Some places just don't know there are big pumpkins for sale!

The big city brokers pay anywhere from thirty cents a pound to a dollar a pound...........but the average is about fourty cents. Size and orange does attract the higher numbers. My buddy was offered a thousand bucks, for his nice shaped orange 845 last year. Another experienced grower with 1000 lb fruit that were big and ugly cream colored sold, for fifty cents a pound. My split and healed pumpkin near five hundred pounds sold, for two hundred with all, of it's apologies. The above fruit were purchased, by the brokers, who come, to the Altoona, Pa. weigh off specifically, to buy any pumpkin, that is available, for sale. These go, to the Baltimore, Md. and Washington, DC marketing area.

The above will vary considerably when cost from point, of pickup, to point where marketed, is factored in, by the buyer.
The real market can not be forced, by wishfull thinking.
To arrive at retail the keystone was used, for estimating retail or what the retail market would support. That was three shares...one, for the grower, one, for the distributor and one, for the seller. The buyer establishes the first level, of value. You can haggle all you wish but the buyer really is the one with the first hand, on the buying levels. He better know his costs and ability, to turn or he will not be back next year, to do it again. He has, to make his profit, for the haul and be able, to sell, at a level the retailer can make a fair market profit. The percentage of shares may vary but the principle remains the same. So where could one sell a pumpkin for upwards, of thirty bucks a pound, on a day in and day out basis?

Good for you Fsssh! You assumed all three responsibilities of the triangle and made the retail sale. That, of course is the best way to go....in most instances.

Typically I go by the standard of 10 cent per pound per hundered. 2-299 lbs, 20 cents a pound, 300-399-30 cents a pound, 400-499 40 cents a pound. You get the idea. Exceptional fruit (be that exceptionally beautiful or ugly) I adjust accordingly. Anything above 800 I usually go on a per specimen price.

As a middle man for pumpkin carving, I either let the final customer buy the fruit or I pass it on to them at the same price I paid for it. I am selling my carving. Most of my work has been done at $.50 per pound, regardless of size. Most of the fruit I carve are under 500# though.
Speaking of which, I need a nice green one for a wedding ceremony on September 11th. I think they would be happy with 100-200#. Does anyone have anything available?
