Marc and I came off our Best year ever....Growing huge fruit on all 6 plants...totally and average weight of all 6 of about 1022# give or take... and one of then was 1432 pounder. This Year...AHHHHHH....we got .55" of rain over 11 weeks....Squirrels and Rabbits found the vines to be full of water and preceeded to prune them as they saw fit...What a disaster...we have already yanked 4 or the 6 plants this year... My point this this...Were not giving up and either should any of th e rest of you out there who have lost there big ones or had a terrible season....IT can HAPPEN for you just like it did for us...Hang in there and keep the chin up....We have found ways to make something outof this season....More in th enext portion of this message

We have won our first weigh off of the new season..YEA BABY you read this right..we have won our first weigh off of the season.... Last year we used a f-250 truck...a huge skid loader and went to the biggest weigh offs we could find... well this year we did some down sizing.. Here is what we did....Nick (my son) and Marc and I we're able to lift a 400 pounder off the ground and into Marc's truck....See Marc's truck is one of those little toyota's and Trust me...THAT fruit looked BIG in there!!LMAO!! Next we went 20 miles east to a Local whiteside county fair where we STOMPED the competion by about 350 pounds.... Hey so what the one we beat was a 10 year old...They all gotta learn life it tough no matter what your age!! LOL!! Actually they have a comp. one for adults and one for kids!!! I thought we all were just bgi KIDS!! ANyways....Hang in there all you boys and girls... I and Marc will be back in 2006 with High hopes....and so willl all of you....I have worked 66 straight nights and the seasons seems somewhat of a blurr......and you know what...I am really looking forward to 2006... So it really isn't how big your fruit is...It's what you carry it in and where you take it that matters!!LOL!! Hope you all enjoyed.. I gotta get some sleep!!! DAN

Dan, glad to see that sense of humor coming back. send me another 1432 seed and we can make a side bet on who grows the biggest. Maybe meet at the IA state fair if it is open to us northerners. Good Luck next year

My son and I were trying our best to beat you this year, but we sure didn't want to do it this way. We know all about the weather and critter problems; we had enough ourselves but not near as bad as you did. Hang in there. Maybe next year we can have an all Iowa winners float in the 2006 Pumpkinfest parade.

Dan.........look at it this way. The human mind can stand just so much stress. There has, to be variety and rests between highs, in order, to remain reasonably functionally sane.
Had you continued, to ride us all, on a constant watcher's high you may have been a menace, to our mental health.
It is most kind, of you, to be, so understanding. ]:o))
Thank you for being so humanly considerate, of our needs.
