Interesting, going back and looking at the diary, how the unpollinated female had such a perfect look to it, and now how the finished fruit has that same sort of perfect shapeliness to it... (No, I'm not crazy, go look at it!)

The more I think about this pumpkin and Martin's commitment to "growing orange" this year, the more I'm impressed by this great pumpkin! While the rest of us are willing to grow the ugliest fruit imaginable to get the heaviest pumpkin we can grow, here is Martin sticking to his guns to grow only beautiful, orange pumkins...and who ends up getting the big one???? Poetic justice!
