I will probably be leaving home this weekend and will be gone until Oct. 6th. I am currently covering my 4 remaining pumpkins/squash. I am wondering if I should leave them covered while I'm gone or just uncover them. I check em at least every other day so keeping em covered when I'm home works well. I am worried if it gets wet they develop some kind of mildew under the blankets. Our weighoff is Oct 7 and while I dont have anything huge I would like to take at least one of em.

If it were me id probably put a sheet over them. Sheets dry quickly and will still protect from sun, provide a little warmth on cold nights and may even save you if it frosts.

I would also give them pumpkins a good spray of a good fungicide before leaving Sam. If it was me I would spray them with a light coat of Neem Oil, It has a fungicide and pesticide both and is made to spray on fruits.
