I want to experiment in growing various veggies on the off season, such as watermelon, tomatoes, pumpkins etc. Anything I can grow that produce an edible fruit.
I know I would need a big pot...if not a big bucket.
I was planning on rearranging my room to add some shelves to prop up the plants to a window to allow light.
My room gets cold if I don't use a heater during the winter.
But I really just wanna know if it's possible to grow anything indoors in the offseason... I don't wanna waste my time setting it up if it's not gonna happen.

If your only light source is the window you will only be able to grow right in front of it.
South facing is good, east and west possible,North facing bad.
Foil or white poly behind the plants will increase light levels.
Pumpkin seed germinating and potting mix experiments are very worthwhile winter exercises.
Giant onion seed can be started in December in a windowsill for planting out in late April.Cabbages would also be in their normal starting window.
Trying to grow a room sized pumpkin plant in a dark room with no growlight in winter is a waste of time in my opinion.

If you can´t provide spring/summer environment with growing lights, constant temps (at least 60 F), you won´t have anything from November till March (depending on your weather) from my experience. Window growing will not help, you only get leggy plants without good proportion or any decent development on the non-window sides.
