The PA guys must be in hiding. I have some posts in my diary. Doc and his group of newbies have been awfully quiet this season. I hope Rocky is ok after he had patch trauma in the beginning of the season. I don't think he has taken the law into his own hands and is behind bars but we have not heard. No news about Tony C. I don't know if he is renting a moving truck this year for a trip to Altoona or not. The only mention out there is a grower from North Cambria who has a big one going but no word if it is still in 1 piece. Does that mean the world record may be challenged??? I guess we will have to stay tuned.

Ned.......When one or two persons has, to crank it into high gear full time, to encourage pix and communication here, on BP it ceases, to be fun. So far the local membership has shown no interest,in extended play beyond the grow and show, at Altoona. ......The Williamsport area growers will show up, at Altoona, with four trailer loads, of pumpkins. Our area's size and numbers have increased a lot. In addition there will be gourds, tomato and sunflower entrys. ......Tony Ciliberto has not grown, for two years. He rested himself and his patch. He is planning, to re-enter the grow next year. ......the World Record will be challenged, at Altoona Pennsylvania, October 1st. this year. That means the goal, of a 1500 lb. pumpkin, will also be challenged. Exciting stuff!!!!

The PGPGA Weigh-Off will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, October 1 in front of Sam's Club. All entrants should have their pumpkins there and registered by 9AM. Then the fun will begin. The season in PA has been a dry one this year so we shall see what we shall see. Other than that, all I can say is that it will be worth the trip. The weatherman has absolutely guaranteed us good weather. The sun will be shining. The pumpkins should be big. Hamburgers from Sam's will be on sale as will beverages. With good weather, food, drink and a nearby bathroom all needs should be met. Who could ask for more?? See you there.

Hey Owen........If I can find someone to loan me a 500 lb. beauty I will challenge the first 1500 lb. punpkin. My only problem is the rules do not permit three fruit, on the scales, at the same time.
On the other hand there may appear a dandy Long Gourd, a very nice sunflower head and a tomato, to show the folks and tease the competitors....all, on my little trailer.

Wow doc, sounds like you "may" have had a very good year, congrats. Wish we had some kind of other compition here also, I tried giant sunflowers for the first time and got a 4 meter long one, not real long by the pro's standards, but I was very happy with it.
