First, I'd like to say THANKS to everyone who has sent me links, posted best wishes and otherwise contacted me with support. However, I also want to share the very valuable lesson I have learned.

By way of background, we have a small club with about 50 members and have a local weigh-off with this being our sixth year. It's designed as a community event and getting the word out can be challenging with a tight budget.

One of our club members has tried for two years to get some local media coverage that would encourage spectators to come and see what this is all about. Well, as you can see she was finally successful in getting a local paper to visit my patch.

In all honesty, I did not realize it would turn into this! I've now had calls from three TV stations, it's been on the radio and I'm amazed at the newspapers across the country. Please remember to believe half of what you read in the media because somehow what is printed only bears some resemblance to the actual discussion.

If you know me at all, you know that I do this for the thrill of the giant fruit and NOT the attention.

In the end, I just have to laugh it off and hope I can survive the next week!

Good luck everyone - grow 'em big! Todd

Try to get some sleep Todd. I can't imagine being in your shoes. I had a dream the other night April was backing up the trailer and crushed my leg, in between the pumpkin.

Our congratulations, on the media coverage. Rest assured next year, strange as it may seem, they may evaporate again. Never mind the missed quotes and so forth. That goes on all the time.
