Well since my bigest pumpkin went and comitted sucide. I have to take the fugugly to the fair on Saturday. pale white and low if its 300lbs ill be suprised. so is there anything i can do to add say 600-700lbs over the next 2 days? lol... should i add calicum treated concret? just cut a whole in the bottom and stuff it with marbles? i think growing AG'S this year i have lost my marbles. I need a very thin (see thru)if possible sheet to lift this massive uglyness to the back of my pickup.(hanging up the tarp till next year).Theres a good chance i can weight more than my pumpkin hahahah how fun is that... Still i cant wait for the Fair its always a blast and i can tell lies about the big one that gotta way!!. Best to all Growers everyone have a good time hope you all grow a new BP. oh yeah wait till next year!!!!! Ed

Ed...Don Young had problems with his growing an odd way so he flipped it over to stabilize it. He says the flipped OTT measure gained 165lbs. The way I figger it if you flip/roll your pkn to the contest instead of driving it there you'll surely add a few hundred lbs no sweat....it worked for Don why not you?

AT MY VERY FIRST WEIGH-OFF I BROUGHT A 125 LB PUMPKIN THAT HAD MATURED SO EARLY IT WAS ON A TIRE IN OUR GARAGE FROM LATE AUGUST UNTIL THE OCT WEIGH OFF AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES TO ATTEND THIS FIRST WEIGH OFF I ARRIVED TO FIND PUMPKINS THAT MADE MINE LOOK LIKE A PEANUT I STUCK WITH IT AND TODAY MY PUMPKINS PROBABLY MAKE SOME OF THE NEWER GENERATION OF GROWERS FEEL "PEANUTTIE" LOL, BUT HANG IN THERE VERY SOON, IF YOU STICK WITH IT, YOU EFFORTS WILL BE REWARDED DICK W

Well, if 125 is a peanut, I must have a walnut, maybe a brazil nut. About twice as big, but it'll still be the smallest one there. Oy vey! Of all places, why did I choose to bring it to Port Elgin? :-)

I'll be sending mine from Holland to Port Elgin by airmail. Anyone have a 20" bubble envelope for me?

Dick: Thanks for the level-headed encouraging words. Let's remember that not all of us a 'big' hitters, just small hitters with big dreams. I'm going to bring a puny pumpkin to the weigh-off and try to remember I did the best I could. Sorry Ed that you couldn't bring the bigger one. Have a great weigh-off anyway.

Look at it this way also. At least you have a pumpkin to bring to a weigh off. I just lost my last of three pumpkins last Sunday and it was Est at 1002 pounds.

LI: Rolling..rolling..rolling... Keep those doggies rollin! Rollin..rollin..rollin YEE HAW! Since my pumpkin is a non-contestant this year, (Mr D&Me- your smallest is better than my PB!) I am thinking of dressing it up a bit... maybe paint it metallic sparkle red with lightning bolts, etc... LOL! Might make people more interested in the weigh-off... I wonder if other growers will like it though? I'm game for anything. just fun.
