Well while loading up for the Tualatin weighoff I pulled the ultimate bonehead move and dropped my pumpkin as I was raising it up to put on the pallet in the back of the truck. Thats what I get for doing it in the dark alone. I should have put it on the pallet on the ground and then put the forks on and lifted it into the truck, but I don't like to do it in the dark unless I have a spotter. The chain around the bucket did a little spin and dropped it about 4' onto the blossom end and shattered the fruit. So now I have a 650 Michalec 05 est. DMG. Not what I wanted. It was a sound fruit and evenly thick. I scooped out the seeds and put them in a bucket. The pumpkin will now be fed to the cattle. It was on the 1033 Emmons 04 and the youngest fruit in the patch. OTT at on 9-21 was 313.5". 92" SS 90.5" EE 131" Circ. I briefly thought of loading it up and getting a weight on it anyway, but decided to take a smaller fruit off the 1074 Calai 02 grown on a secondary. Not nearly as big but prettier. I will post some photos of the damage in my diary later this weekend after I return from Tualatin. This pumpkin was pollinated with the 576 Michalec 03 and it looks like I have a decent number of seeds from it. Welll I've had my bad luck, hopefully that's the last of it.

Well I'll never know what that one actually weighed, but I learned a lesson from it. It could have placed 4th at the Tualatin contest, but I was fortunate to get 6th with the second choice pumpkin. Thank goodness it wasn't the squash I dropped, that ended up being a new PB at 716 lbs. and made my day for me at the weighoff.
