This was my first trip to central MI and one I will not forget. The farm market of Andy T's made the perfect setting for a giant pumpkin weigh-off, coupled with the superb hospitality of Andy, Sunday, and their staff. I had the privilege to witness 7 MI records set and reset, along with the worlds first true green squash to go over 1,000#'s. I would like to congradulate all the growers from MI who attended and participated and a special congradulation to Todd and Lori Swarts for their two record breakers 1199 pumpkin and 1018 squash. I would also like to thank Bob, Frank, Joe, Ken and all the others that helped make this weigh-off truely a world class event. I will look forward to returning in '06 to a great GPC event THANK YOU for a special day.

Dave:
Pleasure to have you in the great state of Michigan...I think I speak for many growers who were there that said your presence at the event was greatly appreciated. Good luck at Canfield and hope to see you again next year!!!

Dave,
A great Big Thank You to you. To have a World Record holder take time out of his day to stop at my patch is truely awesome. This past weedend is one I won't forget. It was my first time to Andy t's. Met a bunch more Michigan growers. Dave you did a great job as the MC. Andy and Sunday did a great job as hosts. I was more than happy to help out. After all the sweating in June and July it feels good to be an active part of the wiegh off, help to bring closure to the season. Being part of the lifting crew I was able to see the scale readout first, what a moment looking over to see 1020 on read out as we were untieing Todd's 1018*, knowing history was right in front of me. It was SO COOL. Congrats to all who attended. The state of Michigan pumpkin growing is to be reckon with.

Glad we had a safe weedend, Only one scary moment and hope that one grower's pluse has returned to normal. We'll be telling that story for years.

Dave please do come back up in '06

Dave,

I think everyone enjoyed your excitement and charisma as MC. Your words of encouragement were appreciated. We’d certainly be honored to have you back next year. Was that pumpkin really carved in your image? Now that was a scary jack-o-lantern.

Thanks Bob, Ken, and Joe K. for taking care of the lifting duties.

Andy and Sunday deserve most the credit for all the years they have sponsored this event. It gets better each year. And thanks for sending my pumpkins to sunny Florida to live out their final days.

And Todd Swarts: Truly Amazing – I do not know what else to say.

Dave,

We cannot tell you what a joy it was to have an MC who knows the hobby intimately. You shared a wealth of information and your knowledge of the records allowed you to generate excitement in the crowd.

Andy and Sunday outdid themselves this year. You can bet it's an event we won't soon forget - for these and many reasons!

'Thank you' simply doesn't get it.

Best of luck as you go into your weigh-offs!
