If someone was able to get their hands on this fabric would a grower want wet felt, dry felt, or a material called machine fabric?? Thank YOU Peter

I have three different kinds. I can't say that it makes a whole lot of difference. You want a material that "wicks away" the water and prevents varmits from burrowing into the pumpkin from underneath.

The fabric you are looking for is called a WIRE from a paper machine it is made from a heavy flexable plastic. NOT the FELT....it holds water.

My buddy who runs our local pulp mill tells me it's "dryer felt" a white close gauge woven nylon that lets moisture run through it. It is flexible. It doesn't resemble felt at all, but that's what they call it.

Oh, and if/when (in my case) your pumpkin decides to self destruct. . . You can just slide that baby over to the compost pile right on top of your dryer felt. . . Hose 'er off and she's good for next year.
