We just had a Sunday Family Section feature, on giant pumpkins. Seventyfive pounds was the object, of the feature. It was a great article....however they missed two teen age growers, in our area: one with a thousand or near so and one with a first year over five hundred.
After the weighoff we will present a real giant pumpkin submission.
If that does not get published one, of our large and most frequent advertising spenders, is featuring our best pumpkins being carved, in a Red Cross Flood Victum's fund raiser. That will get coverage.

I've heard that neighbors and the news are both unreliable sourses as far as getting pumpkin weights, locations and other facts correct. A guy that lives a couple house down the street from me told me this ... he saw it on the news last night. :)

I am not sure you needed the guy down the street to tell you that the news is an unreliable source of information. We have all known that for some time.

Our Colorado Weigh-off is this saturday Oct. 1 in Old Colorado City at 25th street and Colorado avenue. The pumpkins should start arriving around 9:00am. Hope to see some new growers there, and yes there will be old veteran growers there like myself and the madman...lol..And I also have not heard of any monsters here in colorado, as Far as I know, we are all pretty much within around 100lb. weight estimate of each other, which will make the competition all the more interesting to see who has been streaching their tape measure... The s..t talk stops when the tail gate drops.. good luck to all this weekend and Happy weighing to all, and be careful lifting as it can be hazardous on your back..James Kane

James.........what time does the Pike's Peak Roll Down start? A hundred pumpkin race, to the bitter end, would be some kind, of a roller record. :)))
