Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings

Menomonie, WI ([email protected])

Having the pumpkin in the back of the truck is one of my favorite things to do....Must be the Wisconsin blood in me...We tie our deer to our vehicles to show off our kill and season them with road salt. I love the Guakers, and the rubber neckers. Except when they almost hit you. I love the kids in the mini-vans screaming and jumping up and down. I imagine it is chaos in the car for about 30 seconds. This year though...Camera Phones...People leaning out the window trying to get a good shot...

Same thing has happened to me! Camera phones, digital cameras, and nice smiles and cheers at every intersection. Always friendly interactions - I truly believe in the magic of pumpkins! Show 'em off everyone!

On my drive to Lee Farms last week with my 385 OTT pumpkin
in the back, I stopped at a Rest Stop. When I came back to my pick-up, it was surrounded with a host of folks. One lady from North Carolina said, "No one will ever believe me when I tell them the size of this pumpkin!"

I was bringing my 845 back from weigh off and pulled through a drive through to get something to eat and two 20 year old girls stop and said we had to turn around and follow you see this pumpkin, its huge, how did you grow it!?(WISH I WAS 20 AGAIN)
I told the girls ask Glenn Andrews, hes the best grower i know that never has anything at the end of the season and always has the worst luck, but yet he always seems to pull a nice pumpkin out of his Hat.

Glenn, I will never believe a word you say ever in your Diary again. YOU SAND BAGGER,HAHAHAHAHAHA

We had a gas station attendant take a shot of my pumpkin to send to all of his friends. It was a lot of fun to show people. And, eventhough it was the smallest one at the weighoff, it's nice to know that it's probably still the biggest pumpkin that most folks have even seen.
