In the quest for new State records, I noticed this pumpkin was in exibition... why? This could be a new Wisconsin State Record.

Pumpkin had two small holes, one of which went through into the cavity, and were siliconed since August. Would have been a new state record. The current state record is the 1159 Barlow.

The pumpkin actually healed over one of the small pinholes from a dill ring, but the other one went into the cavity. It was not more than 3 mm wide.....very small hole. I opened the fruit today and where that hole was, that was the thinnest part of the fruit, if it had been .5-1" more thick...it would have held. The inside was not bad looking at all...fruit growth cracks like usual and the pronounced dill ring. I put silicone in every spot along that dill ring that looked like it could split on AUG 19th. Two days later, i noticed it had opened in one spot and that was the spot where it went through on saturday when we checked it. the fruit was free of rot and abosolutely solid when it was opened up on sunday. I have many pics of it which i will post soon. Fruit estimated at 1193 and weighed 1186.
