I thought for sure that Al would suprise us all again following last years new world record. His name wasn't listed in the Port Elgen results. Did he lose a monster at the last minute or does he have one just sitting in his garden that hasn't beened weighed. Or did the former world champion just decide to lay low on Oct.1.

This weekend was very unusually warm in Southern Ontario, with temps at 24'C by my house, and is suppost to be like that for the next couple of dayz. So maybe he has waited like most growers and is going out to niagra.

Hmmmmm, hoping to gain a few extra pounds maybe? Do you know, that, if (and I know he was) measuring his pumpkin properly, and it really was gaining 16 lbs a day when harvested, then if he had somehow known, if he had gone to a weigh-off a week later, chances are he would have broken 1500 lbs, did you ever think of that?

It was warm on Saturday. But, where I am there is supposed to be a dramatic drop in temperature around the 6th and 7th. So, the extra time may be more like a few days than a whole week. But, when you have a monster, I guess a couple extra days, even only two or three, can make a big difference. Of course, that's also three days in which something awful can happen.

Snake oil - you must be from "Goslow".
It seams to me that many growers will be heading to Niagara next weekend.
I heard the grape vine talking. Alan decided to stay in Ottawa this year at the BYward Market weigh off site. No results have been posted yet.
