Guess it will take some time, to get agreement and understanding that squash,to be recognized now, is to be True Green all green.
I sure hate, to see, AG Pumpkins with a tinge or flush, of green called squash. This confuses everyone.
Simply stated are not the present rules simplified? Orange and yellow and tans showing, is a pumpkin. A squash is, to be all green. True solid greens is now squash. Anything else is a pumpkin.
Discussion encouraged.

HERE IS ONE PRINTED VERSION, OF THE NEW RULES
...100% of the following colors or color combinations will be green, blue and gray. The surface area ,of the fruit grown, in the patch, non including the portion that was in contact with, or close proximity, to the ground. The green, blue and gray surface area will include between the ribs, around the stem and blossom end. This will not include any netting (cantalouping) or any discoloration caused by the close proximity to, or in contact with the ground.
Pumpkins will be all fruit not classified as squash.

There is also an "allowance" for the light colored "squash striping" so typical of the Gancarz/Stellpflug/Dill lines of giant squash.

humm ... how about ...
heaviest fruit wins period...
if you want to classify them... lets try:
50% or more orange, cream, yellow, red or a combination there of is a pumpkin.
and 50% or more green, blue, grey or a combination there of is a squash.
majority rules !
