While foolishly moving a 120 pound pumpkin with a handtruck, I gouged some slice cuts in the skin. I put baking soda on the cut surfaces to provide unfavorable ph for fungi -- should I do anything else?

that pumpkin saver spray for jack-o-lanterns is good for a picked and cut fruit. . .I don't know what's in it but suspect it combines fungicide and wax.
