He's just trying to tell you that some people are a little harder to get hold of than others. There are probably thousands of growers that have questions for Larry right now. Ditto for the growers in your other post. Happy hunting and I hope you have some good seeds to trade or a fat wallet, one or the other :>D Jim

Say Biggie, good luck. You are standing in a long line. Everybody and their brother wants a seed and/or some advice from Checkon. Since he grew the pumpkin from a Checkon 1354, he has both seeds from the 1469 Winner and the 1354 mother. Gotta admire your drive. Who knows, you may end up with a seed or whatever and maybe next year the winning pumpkin. We might all be sucking up to you then. I am certain there will be some of Checkon's seeds available at the PGPGA Raffle/Bidding Sale early next year. Save up some dough and help provide dollars for the PGPGA prize fund.

Ok Im going to be delicate when I tell you this The Next Biggie. No one is going to give Mr Checkons info to you, he is intitled to his privacy and doesnt not want to be bombarded with tons of email asking for seeds. I hope I wasnt to rough on you. And if this didnt come through clear enough, your going to be waiting a very long time.

Larry Checkon reads these boards just like everyone else. Sit tight & he might contact you himself. If not, the auction season will soon be upon us. You might procure what you're after directly or prhaps a different seed worthy of a later trade. You might also join a growers association & start networking with other growers who allready have the seeds you seek or at least know how to get one. Be paient & you be surprised what will happen.

Jordan Take a look at the links section of this Website, there you will see that there are quite a few Growers Clubs & Growers Groups listed on there. Click on each link and read about the Club or Group, regardless of whether you are in the State/County that the Club/Group covers. Many of the Clubs/Groups have Membership incentives such as Seeds upon joining and in some cases a list of the Club/Group Members who do not mind their names being given out on the Club/Group Website. As Lubadub quite righfully says, in the post further up this thread, some of Larry's 1469 Seeds will be available later on at the PGPGA Raffle/Bidding Sale. Clubs & Groups are ALWAYS very welcoming to new Members and the bennefits of joining are priceless. Regards Mike

I have been growing for 5 years and have had 3 over 1000 lbs and i feel as Im not worthy to take up Larry's time. Right now the guy has more emails and bubble packs than he has seeds. Next biggie unless you have money for auction, you should just get seeds from the nice growers here at BP and spend a couple years in the trenches learning and developing your skills. I know you have been told this before and you dont believe it, but the truth is that you would most likely waste the potential of the 1354 or 1469 Checkon seeds or any other big time seed. We were all rookies once and wanted the big seeds like you.... I WAS THE SAME WAY.... but there is SOOOOO much involved in growing a monster that these kind of seeds would be wasted in a rookies hands. I wish you the best and admire your determination but you should try to consider what you have been told by some of us seasoned growers. The knowledge you can get here on BP is far more valuable to you than any giant seed out there.

Not to be mean.. But I do have to agree with Mike as well. I am going on my 3rd year growing and will not ask. Only because I still have a lot to learn! Is this your 1st year growing? And if it is. try planting your own seeds. That is the only way you can prove your own.. April

Yes, I agree with Mike. Just ask someone like him. He has good proven seeds now and has been very genorous with giving his own seeds out. Plus he is very easy to contact and posts here quite often. Plus, he is more likely to help if you have questions in season. Can't go wrong with getting seeds from members that participate here often.
