Considering the little difference among the biggest pumpkins grown on the last three years, it seems to me that the top of the vegetative growth for a fruit is close to be get. From 2003 to 2005 only a difference of 10 lbs, more or less, has been observerd among the biggest fruit of each year (split or not), 1446, 1458, 1469. Longer in the past differences used to be larger, usually about 100 lbs every year: 1337, 1262, 1140... I presume that the magical number of 1500 lbs will be reached (maybe next year), but it will be very close to the limit, and the next frontier, 1600 lbs, will be out of our possibilities.

There are weight growth techniques that have not yet been commonly used, in the finishing techniques. If they have been used it has been a deep dark grower's secret. Even so one must seriously consider the facts you have presented. My guess is that the use, of weight pushing techniques, the last three weeks might add another fifty pounds, to the total. That management technique is built into the Agro-K foliar program.

the 1469 was estimated at 1788 lbs or so. The size for an 1800 lb fruit is already there, just need some more wall thickness genes and it could be a reality. It does make you wonder, where will it stop? Jimmy

duster problem is the formula only works well on really round fruits.

441" and potential to have an extremely thick and dense fruit, that would be heavier than our standard formulas would indicate If 441" is eastimated to 1788, and we have % heavy of the 1407 2100 lb should be within our goal. I believe 2000 seems like a reasonable weight to achieve, and very likely a bit more than that, maybe 2200 or so, we will see, I hope to have another 60 or 70 years of growing left to work on that, but with that much time I suspect we will develope other means of getting much more dramaticaly large fruit than we can currently imagine.
