Another video for all to enjoy. The Discovery channel covered three paddlers (including me) during our pumpkin prep work, this is the final product. If anyone can tell me how to get a copy of this saved on my computer I'd appreciate it.

you want to find a type of product on the internet called "video Stream rippers"
Go here to download the video. It's about 3.3MB: http://www.hgpga.org/regatta.html

Ryan -
That is unbelievable. You said in the video that it would be difficult to attach a keel, but I would think it would be crucial for stability. Do you think it would help? Can anyone think of how it might be done?

The thing with the pumpkins is, even though they bob and weave a lot, they still stay upright. Although, one guy this year did fashion a rather large "keel" type device from plywood and attached it to the bottom of the pumpkin using bungee cords. He said it made a big difference in stability, but it also made it harder to paddle and he released it halfway through the race, so I might look into that type of design for next year.

Great stuff,Ryan...
I really enjoyed the video....perhaps the growing pumpkins could be forced-shaped into some rough-type of keel.....(good luck).....LOL.......very interesting...to be cont'd I presume!

Hey Matt,
the download worked fine but how does that work? I wanted to download several videos in the past and, just like Christy, I haven't been able to do it...

how about two small outriggers- one on each side, for stability.

The stream ripper records the video as it is transmitted and then it is saved on the hard drive. Then i just uploaded it to the website. So the file you are downloading from the hgpga.org site has already been converted using the stream ripper software. I used WM Recorder from Applian Technologies.
