I am finally getting manure today. Now it has rained almost every day for about 2 weeks. Should I till the manure, compost and everything else into the ground or should I wait for another week to allow the swamp to dry a little? We do not have the luxury of time like we do in the spring. It will start to get cold soon. Thanks.

i am no expert, but if you till while it is muddy, then you might make clumps that dry like cement, i have had this happen to me.

Only the eyes, of the beholder, can answer this question. A windy day or two can do wonders, to dry off a patch. Your tilling needs, to be done this fall if at all possible. The cover crop will germinate even after a first frost most years.

Never till soggy soil. It can take years (if ever) to recover.
