the seeds coat makes no difference to the plant as long as the seed is mature.

In my case some of my seeds are a combination of colours. They are half tan/half white. And, the white half seems to be less full than the tan end. I had a number of immature seeds in the pumpkin. And, they were all white. So, thought that the whiteness made a difference. If it desn't, great, I'll have more seeds that nobody else will want :-)

I had white seeds in my 733 this year, I dried them and after that they seems so light that I though they were immature, I was about to throw them away.
before that I tried 4 of them, and 3 days latter I had 4 germinating seeds.
doesn't matter of what the seed look like!

Billy...They say the tan ones just have an extra Layer of seedcoat....which can be very woody depending on the genetics. White seeds are certainly less heavy. The whitish/tanish mixes are inbetween I notice (usually heavy Bobier-bobier mixes like Beachy's 1097 and my 878.8(845x846x935). The half full ones that crammed speaks of are sometimes full at the tip and sometimes not....but often good.
BTW...is the 822 you speak of the one I saw displayed at the feed store? I was in the nieghborhood dropping off my second oppossum capture and saw it. (I was working on the shopping center on the big corner down there)........keep your eyes out for "Mr. Cranky" -the kids named him.......

i had four pumpkins this year with white seeds and one with brown seeds. the white ones are lighter and smaller but very viable. try doing the drop test on them after doing this for a while it gets pretty easy to pick out the hollow ones. just out of curiosity what was the cross and how was the color of your 822?

Billy- No tennants named yet but its stores and maybe a bank. As for the wildlife going to Commack.....judging from this years results YOU are the current greater threat....if you guys just keep having babies and time consuming things like that everything will be fine....lol.
