I wanted to apologize to those individuals whom I offended in my recent Ironite post. That was not my intent. As good business policy, I try to stay quiet on controversial threads, but today my role as a father and businessman apparently collided. I consider myself a responsible, intelligent and moral person. When I post, I take time to think out my thoughts into a coherent message. I have used Ironite in the past and was shocked to hear evidence it had high levels of arsenic and lead. As a father of a four year old and an 18 month old, I felt compelled to share that information. When challenged on its validity, I felt compelled to back up my statements with various government sources which support it.

I have no malice towards Ironite or anyone who uses Ironite, and again, I’m sorry to have caused offense to others on the thread. As we all have experienced at one time or another, the lack of verbal and non-verbal communication on these message boards sometimes distorts the tone of the message we attempt to convey, and for that misunderstanding, again, my apologies.

Matt,
I believe your motives were good, when you posted concerning Ironite. I don't wish to share any opinions on the product, as I'm not qualified.

I dont think an apology was necessary, but then again, its not easy to offend me.
Just because you are out to personally take down the Ironite corporation...... :)

I read what you posted. Personally, I don't think what you said could be considered something you need to apologize for.

Now going overboard based upon "evidence" against Ironite, well that is for the continuation of your original post.

I have personally been to their plant in Arizona. They don't wear respirators and I don't remember anything specific to keep it from contaminating the workers.

No apology needed here, Matt. This is America. You can believe whomever you wish ......unless it is not politicially correct....then you can be in "deep sh*t" real fast with the "do-good Leftists"!

Matt you were just trying to look out for others and pass some potentially important info out. No need for an apology but it takes a big man to say hes sorry. Your still cool in my book!

Matt, Thanks for all the information. I have two children and I am concerned for them. I am glad that I do not have any ironite. No need to apologize, in fact a big thank you for sharing the information.

matt, i like reading stuff like that and agree you dont have to apologize. i have this class of hypochondriacs at school and we got into a discussion about all the bad things that are killing us w/out us knowing. this one kid took the cake when he was said he wont eat yellow M&M's because the yellow dye causes cancer !! i wont get a cell phone because i'm scared of the radiation but yet i live by a cell phone tower so am scared to death. my dad calls nick "haz-mat" boy when he sprays because of his gasmask and suit. hey there are so many un-knowns all you can do is be aware. (and of course hope not to get hit by a car cause then this being safe stuff wont matter much).

Hopefully if you do get hit, it will at least be by a hybrid or natural gas vehicle.

Yellow M&M's?? I think my main concern as far as household hazards, would be asbestos. Whe I had the acoustic ceiling scraped off, I sent some samples to a lab- yep, asbestos. Had to go stay in a hotel :)

Hey man, there was a time when people thought smoking was good for you, and inhaling asbestos was fine.
I've come to the conclusion that even the "experts" retain the right to change their mind.

And even having my ceiling scraped the way I did was somewhat illegal.
What you're supposed to do is call in a licensed haz-mat company to remove it. They wear the full space suits, house is sealed, all the neighbors are notified in writing about what is going on, and an independent company monitors air quality outside for the duration of the job. Then the material removed must be disposed of at a hazardous waste site.
Total cost- 15K

SOOO, if there's a chance that something may harm my family, and there is a way for me to avoid that chance, I will do it.
And a hotel was a lot cheaper than calling in the professionals.
Talk about getting away from the topic!
Sorry to jack your apology thread Matt. You are forgiven :)
