Has anyone used or know of anyone that has used Banner Maxx in their fungicide program and successfuly gone over 1000 lbs? I know it contains a growth regulator and should only be used after fruit set. Just a thought..... Thanks, Steve

Where, on the label, or in the full label, does it say it will not bring about early maturity when used at any time?
I know what you reported above has been said, on this site, but I am unable, to find those words, in the company literature. If it were absolutely true I would think that virtue would be clearly stated, on label.
Good question!

The former Ciba Geigy developed Propiconazole & Trinexapac-ethyl in the same product development program back in the late '80s. One of our salesmen went to work for Ciba around '90. He was the one who told me about Banner 7 Primo being so closely related. Being the doubting thomas, I paid him no mind when I ran into Botrytis on some Begonias & blasted them with the maximum labeled rate of Banner. No growth or flowers for 3 weeks. But they lived & produced beautifully after that.
To this day Banner remains the bedding plantsman's best kept secret marketing trick.
An Doc is correct. Neither the former Ciba nor the current Syngenta is ever going to put this trick on the label. But then Pumpkins aren't on the Banner label either.
What does it really do to Pumpkins in practice? I've never had the nerve to try the high rates during fruitset to find out.

My deduction came down to this: Milldews earliest expected arrivals, to your patch are during the major pumpkin growing period, of your furit. To be ready..as in prevention..the product must be in place before the show of the milldews. Therefore Bannor "may" wipe out or hinder the major growth period, of your fruit. At least they cover their butts saying that there may be early maturation. That does sound better than growth interruption during the most important time period, in the major growth period. I chose to not use the product, for this reason.

LOL I manage to split fruit regardless of my fungicide selection. Haven't gone a year yet without a growth related split of some kind. Maybe I need a growth retardent but so far Banner hasn't gotten it done. It does do a nice job on PM. Almost as good as Nova/Eagle.
Like Steve, I'd still like to hear from some 1000+lb growers though.

Since, per Rosemania.com, Banner Maxx was designed for roses and black spot etc, I switched to Subdue Maxx, for control of powdery mildew etc., on my 1333 and 1214.5 this year. Great results, but I alternated applications with Daconil.

Banner wasn't engineered for Roses. It got started in agriculture where after many years it is now marketted as Tilt by the current owner (Syngenta). Banner is really a Turf & Ornamental fungicide that is packaged in smaller sizes.
Subdue Maxx doesn't control Powcery Mildew though it does do a nice job on Phytophthora & Pythium.
Both are now off-patent like everything else Syngenta makes. I now see off-patent Banner (Propiconazole) being sold wholesale for as little as $150/gallon when purchased by the full pallet. It's no wonder Syngenta's stock is in the can. They also have nothing new in developement so far as I can tell.

Growth inhibitors are a factor for Banner Maxx, but ONLY if it is used in higher than recommended concentrations or sprayed more frequently than every 14 days, per the makers.
