I'll vouch for Ray's lifting tarps.....for the normal grower, they will last a lifetime. I use 4 footers a lot on the smaller pumpkins, and probably have lifted 200 pumpkins over the years with the one. I have a second as a backup that doesnt get used much, but I think they are awesome tarps.

indeed, (hey Ray---wink, wink),
NO ONE can grow giant pumpkins without a
lifting tarp from P and P.
i am not kidding--money very well spent.
biggest fruit i have had was 728.5 in
2001, (sob!) and the 5 X 5 i bought shortly
before that has been essential to me ever since.

Mrs. Claus already told me that I am getting a band saw for Christmas. She told me this because I had to set it up so she could make some wooden Christmas ornaments. But I can't use it until Christmas. *sigh* So I guess no lifting tarp this year. Maybe if I am good enough next year.

This brings up a very interesting conflict, the band saw or, the lifting tarp? Hmmmm....

Christrules, I look at it this way, She, I mean I already have the band saw. That only leaves the lifting tarp to get so not much conflict there. I am sure I can work that in during the year. Just like last year, when we moved here She wanted a larger flower garden and it was back breaking work. I told her if we had a tiller it would make work easier. So now we have one. I also need a mister and heating cables. I will have to work on them LOL Actually we should not laugh. How do you think I got my 14 ft aluminum fishing boat? As long as she gets her turn, she is happy. Wifey is happy, I am happy.

I gave my wife a new tiller for Mother's Day about 25 yrs ago!!!!....never heard the end of it....LOL .....she put a big ribbon on it and gave it back to me for several Father's days.......Now here's the great part:....I still am able to use that tiller and that same great wife is still here telling new neighbours about her famous Mother's Day gift years ago!!!...."what a hoot!"
P.S....if you're snooping around BP.Com,dear,looking for hints, please don't limit your choice to pumpkins....a new fly rod would also be great under the tree on Christmas morn!!!...LOL....cheers to all,
Bill

Bill,
Too funny! You should be thankful for your wife's sense of humor.

RootbeerMaker, my wife allows me to make decisions about buying stuff and really trusts me too much. Whenever I go to Home Depot or Menards, I always come back with something that would 'make the job easier' - even things that are way over our budget. But she will catch on someday. That's going to be a dark day.
