Since we are in the silly season, I thought you might like this photo, of a pumpkin placed on the spire of the 307 foot tall Campanile at UC Berkely several years ago. http://www.dailycal.org/sharticle.php?id=3760
http://arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap/gallery/gal054.html gives some context photos of the campanile. So, next year, if you have a large pumpkin you want to get rid of... just look around for something tall and spiky.
