We read, we experiment, we learn. This article is one of the best complete soil building and general soil building articles I have read. For your winter enjoyment:

I agree with James, very good Website for us who are trying our hardest to be totally Organic in our approach to Gardening. As usual your keen eye for learning material is constantly watching over for good info.

Cheers Doc

I have enough (I think) leaves and spoiled hay stockpiled, to go into full coverage mulch this year. I have at least an inch of finished compost saved, for the nusery. I am going, to put down my cover crop, set up the temporary cold frames, and immediately seed buckwheat. The buckwheat will be put down but only, in the top two inches, just two weeks ahead, of the expanding plant. This will do quite a few good things. Buffer the weeds, add more nutrients and keep the worms busy all summer under the mulch. Maintain a good and more even moisture bank. I am working towards not tilling at all in the spring and maybe even in time no till management all year. That seems so far and yet so close. My own habits are the hardest, to overcome.

I got and will install a Purple Martin House. One of those critters will eat 2000 insects a day.
