Are you willing to share your 2006 goals?

I have three goals for 2006
1. Win the MN St Fair with a 1000lb pumpkin
2. Grow a 1100lb pumpkin and a new MN State Record
3. Average 850+ pounds per plant, counting only one pumpkin per plant.

I have 3 goals next year for growing the monster pumpkin.

1. Add a shitload of manure (pun intended) to the patch.
2. Plant only Checkon seeds (most unplanted - yet genetically perfect seeds on the face of God's creation.
3. Not to worry abou things I cannot change, like the weather, yet focus on the things I can influence like powdery mildew control, pest control, soil management, etc.

Happy New Year, time to rededicate myself to this great sport and give it another big shot/push for the 1000 pound mark.

I would also like to give thanks to the growers and friends who have influenced/encouraged me through this rough last 14 months of AG madness.. Larry Checkon, Andy Wolf, Brian Staring, Norm Gansert, Doc Meisner, Matt Teeter, Ned Sandercock, Andy Box, Joe Pukos, Randy and Deb (thanks for the Yuengling last year), Len Knauss (what an awesome man, if you dont know him, you dont know friendship.. wow), and many more I have not forgotten but think the world of!

Bill, I have a few goals as well. Don't harrass me if I don't make them though. I have arranged them in order of probability.

1. Grow a bigger pumpkin than last year (454 lbs). Shouldn't be too difficult as I have a new patch, more room and manure, experience, water, etc.
2. Break the 300kg (660 lb) mark. That would get me into the top 5 Dutch pumpkins ever grown.
3. Grow a 530 lb squash. That would break the Dutch record.
4. Get a pumpkin above 833 lbs. That would break the Dutch record.
5. Grow a thousand pounder. That's just for the fun of it and what a lot of us try to achieve.

I'd like to break 800 lbs.
I also hope to make a few nice crosses.
I think the MN state record is about due to fall. It was set in 2002.

My goals for 2006:
1. Be thankful that I had great doctors and my shoulders are getting back to normal.
2. Keep my pumpkins in one piece until after the weighoff.
3. Grow a monster on the seed BillF gave me.
4. Make the top 10 at Anamosa. That will be tough considering the competition we have!

Transplant

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Easy goal: Maintain title of "Crazy Pumpkin Guy".
Harder Goal: 1000 pound pumpkin, 700 pound squash
Almost impossible: Win trophy for "Largest Pumpkin Grown in Hants County" Note: Howard Dill lives in Hants county and is the only person to ever win this trophy.
Impossible (but a goal anyway): Beat Leo in the Pumpkin Regatta.

Funny, I think it'll be easier to grow a thousand pounder than to beat a 72 year old man in a giant pumpkin boat race.
