Is anyone else having unusual weather this winter? Starting in late November we got a lot of snow, nearly 17". Then it got real cold(-22). Starting just before Christmas it turned warm, we have had thunderstorms, and the snow melted without any runoff. It all soaked in because we have no frost in the ground and it was so dry from last fall. The grass is green and farmers are plowing in tile and chisel plowing. Usually this is the coldest time of the year for us. January is more like a normal March so far. What is it like in the rest of the country?

Similar mild Late Dec./Jan. here. There is snow cover here in the central part of the state, though.

Same down east here in Nova Scotia. Most of the snow has gone and we've had rain and mild temps lately....BUT....I'm sure the white stuff is not far away....beautiful day today.

For the last two days we have broke the record highs. Yesterday was 76 and today is supposed to hit 75. IT has been really warm for the last 3 weeks and we have not had any rain to speak of since the first of October.

1 inch of snow,3 days of -20 C,I have not even strung a cord for the block heater yet and -3 or 4C is as cold as it has been for a long time. We should have seen -30 by now! The old timers have no stories that can relate to what we seen this "winter". Well, there was one........no winter = no summer but thats to painful to contemplate.

One small snow back in mid Dec. Unusually warm, low 60's today and strong S. wind. I got tulips, and daffodils sprouting all over the place. They are convinced spring is here, I am not so sure. Peace, Wayne

It's quite unusaul weather. My parents can remeber when we got 2-3 Ft of snow. Me and my relatives were going through some old pictures for my grandpa's Funeral. we found one picture were the snow piles from shoveling were nearly 5Ft tall. It seems every year our minnesota winters are getting less and less harsh. Are summers are hotter and drier too. Either it's global warming or the Magnetic north pole is swifting. This is the only explanation I can give for the changes around here. We can hope this climate change is normal. Either way with deforestation, pollution, global warming, flooding, and natural disaters the days are numbered for the human race. Save a tree, recycle your paper.

They say that we are going to have a string of 50 degree days in a row this week. I will have my truck put in the shop for a check-up and ride my motorcycle to work. Funny this winter I have my bike just inside the garage door and my snowblower is still in the back of the garage.

We've got about 5" of snow on the ground. Temps have been warmer than usual, but the ground has been covered with snow for over a month now. Lots of freezing rain. Temps are suppose to be a couple degrees above freezing for the next couple days, but not enough to really melt the snow too much. The night time temps will be still a little below freezing.

Seems like normal weather for my neck of the woods. Every January we have a nice warming spell...the old timers call it the "January thaw". It happens every year here. Just look at my diary from last year. I was hauling manure and wearing a light vest in January. The cold will return.
