working on the lay out of the patch for this year.at the end of the patch i want to put two plants together growing in opposite directions. how close can these plants be with out any problems? is 25 feet long 20 feet wide ok?

Leave 5 feet between them. 25 feet lond and 20 feet wide per plant is great!

the length sounds good, but i belive width is more important, secondarys would be good if they could get 12--15 on each side or total with of 24-30 ft ,If you got the room !! according to the recearch iv done

BP it sounds good as u have it. As far as how close together they (stumps) can be, id say stay atleast 2' apart. I grew 2 plants last yr, maybe 2' apart and ended up with 881.5 and 1114. My diary should show pics how close they were.
