BTW, the reason for this post is that some seeds are starting to get here (jutras, wentzell, kuhn, handy, andrews, privitera, zuhlke, young, oh, i could go on and on) and they all have great genetics. I don't think anyone will ever have to worry about great genes again, so many great seeds!!!

Owen, I set a line-up in November/December and ended up only adding one pumpkin as an extra, but I've been fooling around with my 2007-2009 lineups already making sure almost all of the seeds I got this year will get a place. Lot's of fun and changing every time a bubble envelope arrives.

Owen: So many seeds so little time. lol. I just received my Companion seeds from the VGVGA auction. Wouldn't ya know it they are all white seeds, and I am a sucker for white seeds. I couldn't make up my mind now if my life depended on it. I think that Zuhlke seed you have is the best one for you to grow. ha ha. Good luck and grow em big and orange. Steve

An appropriate post indeed! I've been changinging my mind(going back and forth) almost every day. I'm planning three competition plants, with some combination of the following: 1370 Rose 1332 Werner 666 Hester 1233.5 Reiss 710.5 Companion 940 Mombert 00

I should have enough fine seeds to get me through the next few years. The trouble is, next year there will likely be several more "must have" seeds. LOL Maybe everyone should grow open pollinations for 3-4 yrs., so some of these great genetic seeds get a chance. Just kidding.

I've cut my lineup from 8 to 6 plants and dropped all but two of the original seeds. Plus I've pawned off two of the other originals to my friend's patches.

I can choose the main plants, but it's always hard to choose the backups!
For the backups, you usually want a "darkhorse", something that looks good but nobody is considering. As the backup has a fair chance of getting pulled, you don't want to waste a top seed, or even one that you think will become a top seed to this fate.
Also for the backups, you want things that will "fit" nicely with your plans for crossing. It gets interesting...

My line up changes weekly it seems! I may have to take 2 similar seeds and flip a coin come starting time. Squash line up has remained the same.

I had my plan, but since then I was fortunate to come across two nice seeds. I'm now set for this year, and maybe next year also. ( I need a bigger yard )

Boehnke, the seeds I had originally selected to grow in 2006. All of those seeds were unproven.
Now if I could just decide which Andrews* squash to go with and I will be set. Too bad I don't have a 218 or the decision would be easy. -Jim

Jim, thanks for clearing me up.
Not a plan here yet. The list of good seeds went even longer. 13 weeks to go. 5 plants thats for sure. May be a Mombert, a Checkon (1469 hehe) or a Rose ..., who knows. The wider the choice, the greater the trouble. lol

Surprisingly consistent here. I absolutely want to grow the 552* I chose, I won't leave the 1068 out, I need to grow one seed of my own (720.6), and if I don't put in one seed from last year's NH raffle they'll shoot me so it's the 1058. AleX Noel.
