Has anyone used any traps to catch the moles in your garden? I was looking at 3 types, Scissor Jaw, Harpoon & Choker Loop on a website & was wondering if anyone has had any luck with any of them? If so, let me know which one you prefer. Thanks.

the harpoons work the best

I have gotten 1 or 2 in the harpoon
That may work if you get 'em early and don't have many
But if there's a family
Or a nearby unlimited supply of moles
Like the vacant field behind me
You'll never keep up with traps.

I have clay soil and find it hard to catch them with the harpoon trap. Any suggestions?

Scissors Jaw...this comes from Brigitte's Dad. Who in the hunting off season runs a mole trapline.

I have the best luck with Victor Out O’Sight Mole Traps (the scissor ones). The harpoon ones aren't nearly as good for me. Your success will be dependent on your skill in identifying the active runs and placing the traps properly.

Harpoons here too. Moles lack good blood coagulant. So a mole that bleeds dies.

Folks with hard soil should run the points up & down a couple times before walking away.

Like Jim says, most of the surface tunneling is just looking for worms and bugs. . . .only the main runs work for traps

Thanks for the replies. I just need to find a Canadian supplier now. I'm not sure which one to go with, so I'll try the harpoon & scissor types & see which one works the best. I'll post my results later in the growing season. Thanks again.

Victor Outta Sight traps are what my dad swears by. I think he caught over 50 this summer.

Brigitte, I'd like to hire your dad, or have him make a little video on his technique.
