Wanted to thank everyone for all the stuff I learned here at Big Pumkins.
Although I did not post last year and did not maintain my Grower Diary, I did grow my first AGs -- thanks to Kyle Little for sending me seeds, especially the 307 Little (04) x self (586# Official, 12% heavy) seeds.
I germinated 6 plants last year and 5 made it into the ground. Unfortunately, I was hit hard by SVB and lost all but 1 AG vine, the 307 Little. The lone vine was split in 3 places by SVB damage, but it had a baby on it so I patched it and decided to nurse it along anyhow.
If that wasn't enough, several things happened during the summer and I was unable to maintain the plant properly. The vine was water twice and I sprayed insecticide once. No ferts :(
All and all by 10/30, I had a 204lb AG ready for carving.
This year (barring any strangeness like last year) I hope to post here and maintain my Diary.
Anyhow, thanks again!

Things can happen. Last year, for the first time, a woodchuck managed to find my patch. By the time I caught the bugger I didn't get one pumpkin. Hopefully, he will not find his way back this year from where I dumped him.
Good luck Dave

Ed,
Hey, how about that snow, eh? Wow! Great stuff! We've got at least 8" here. Luckily my husband and I are from up north (he's from MI and I'm from Ontario, Canada) and we have a heavy duty snowblower in the garage.
Thank you for asking about seeds. I still have some of Kyle's seeds and I got a great seed harvest from my 204. I'm good to go!
Hoping the seeds from the 204 will really fly. They have nice weight genetics and now that they have been grown regionally, I might get even better results. Well, I KNOW I'll get better results if I water, fertizlize and spray the vines :)
Dave,
I'm waiting for something like that to happen. Our property is privacy fenced and we have 3 collies, but there is a ground hog that likes to burrow under my neighour's porch. Hoping he STAYS there :)
Thanks for the luck wishes, I'm going to need them

We were luck here just flurries!! my grandson is bumed:( but it made my day..: ) I hear you on the groundhog those little rascals can cause problems. my dogs have helped with kepping the critters at bay. think about making to the weigh-off, all the pumpkins were small last year the best only 757 all the way down to 43lbs. we have a lot of fun weighing pumpkins telling lies about the big one that got away.. best of luck in 06' Ed
