Hello fellow grower.
I thought of this a while ago as a way to get the same effective benneficial fungus for much less $$$$$$ per person. This method would allow us to inoculate with the fungus every place we needed to for at least 1 season with just 1 lb. of myccoryzae each.
The fungus that I have heard works the best is the Joel Holland one that can be found at http://hollandsgiants.com/soil.html
125$ gets 10 lb., so for 12.50$ per person 10 people get 1 pound each. Once we each had our share we could each grow some AG seedlings in a big box in a semi warm place (basement) with sterile potting media and inoculate those roots with our 1 lb. The myccoryzae would colonize these roots as they grew and when we needed to inoculate some competition pumpkin roots we would cut up a bit of the box plant roots in the soil and put it where we wanted it in the patch. We could keep an indoor colony going indefinately by adding more soil as we removed it. The same original fungus would be in any soil that the colonized roots grew through.
If anyone would like to participate let me know and we could figure some way to all send in our payment and all equally divide the product.
I have gotten yes's (from e-mails I sent to local growers I had communicated with in the past on the computer) from Don Langevin, George Duval, and Steve Connolly, and some maybe's. Could anyone else interested please e-mail me as I need to have an e-mail list to update everybody. On occasion my AOL account gives me trouble receiving e-mails so if I don't respond to your reply within two days of when you send it post here. We will be dividing it somewhere near me, or at my house, so you want to be local. I need 6 more people, first come first serve. Thanks for your time, AleX Noel.

Thanks Tom, but I've already asked a bunch of growers, waiting for replies now, and have gotten a few already and those who have agreed have all agreed to the Holland one. Also, I don't really know the active ingredient content in either one, but in raw weight that one seems alot more expensive. Sorry, AleX Noel.

I am quite certain that the mycorrhizae joel sells is the same as our privately branded Mycore Plus product you get at PumpkinSupply.com. While I can't say this with absolute certainty, I'm sure Joel will correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that both of our mycorrhizae products come from Mycorrhizal Applications, Inc. http://www.mycorrhizae.com. They have a product called MycoApply Endo Plus, which has three strains of endomycorrhizae plus 2 strains of trichoderma and a biostimulant (mostly kelp meal). We simply buy it in bulk (500 lbs at a time) and repackage it for growers with smaller needs.
At PumpkinSupply.com 10 lbs of MyCore Plus is $115.00, plus you get a free PumpkinSupply.com measuring spoon. If someone organized a mass purchase, I'd makes sure everyone who was involved with it got one of our cool measuring spoons ;-)
Also, we do have two other MyCore Products at PumpkinSupply.com. We have our regular MyCore product which has the same three strains as the MyCore Plus product, but without the trichoderma and biostimulants. 10 lbs of the regular MyCore is only $99.
The other mycorrhizae product we have, that is the one I plan on using this spring, is the MyCore Plus Seed Inoculant, which is the same as the MyCore Plus, except that it is a fine powdered product (rather than granular) that contains 4 strains of endomycorrhizae (rather than the three from the other mycorrhizae products. It also contains BioZome (http://www.biozome.com) , which is a really neat product that aids in seed germination, and does other really cool things you all should read about.

And don't forget that for every $100 spent at PumpkinSupply.com in February, you get a FREE 1 lb. package of our AlgaCore soluble kelp powder.
So it's like a Pampered Chef party--get your friends together, buy a big bag of MyCore to split amongst yourselves, and the organizer gets a free package of Kelp, and has one less thing to have to explain to their spouse why it's on the credit card.

Hi growers, Our Bio-Endo Plus is mixed special and has the highest percentage of active ingredients available. It is also fresh for this season which is very important. we have been assured that Holland's Land O' Giants is the exclusive distributor for this blend to the Pumpkin Growing Community. We also have an active drawing to celebrate the launch of hollandsgiants.com which will give growers a chance at an 845 Bobier seed or a chance at 10 other seeds from each of my over 1,000 lb. pumpkins. Best wishes to all for a great season!Joel

Thanks Matt, Joel. David B.: It'd be great to have you participate as I am looking desperately for more people, but you live across the country from me so your cost would be an extra few bucks for shipping from wherever we divide it to you. Actually, anybody who is not in my area but would like a share could participate as long as you were willing to add the cost of shipping. Should I put your name in David? AleX Noel.

I might be in. I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between the MyCore Plus from PumpkinSupply.com and BioGrow Endo Plus from HollandGiants.com. Does anyone have spore counts for the BioGrow Product?

BioGrow Endo Plus has 60,000 propagule count per lb. for each of the 3 strains of Endo Mycorrhizae, plus the 2 species of Trichoderma and the biostimulant. Biogrow Endo Plus also contains 40 additional beneficial bacteria, specially added to optimize the product for giant pumpkins. I'm working on getting a document ready with all 40 listed. I will be able to email it to anyone interested in a few days.
Results are what really matter. Larry Checkon, the new world record holder has been using our product for a couple years and has already reordered for 2006. We have shipped to many other world class growers as well. In my own garden in 2002, I experienced problems with Fusarium and Pythium and did not have a 1,000 lb. pumpkin that year. I started using the Biogrow Endo Plus in 03 and have had 8 pumpkins over 1,000 lbs since then with no sign of soil pathogens. I use it in the seed starting mix, in the planting hole, and at each leaf axil at least on the mains.(demo on my 05 DVD/Video). I used an average of aprox. 2 lbs. per plant over the season.

I want to issue a correction and apology to my above post regarding the spore counts of MyCore. The wording on the labeling is vague and I inquired to the manufacturer and they responded today. The spore counts for MyCore are 60,000 propagules aggregate, and are made up equally of the three strains listed. The same is the case with MyCore plus with 20,000 propagules aggregate split equally among the three strains. At PumpkinSupply.com we always want to provide the best information possible to growers and I apologize for having posted inaccurate information. All customers who purchased any of our MyCore products between the initial posting and now will receive the option of a full refund or three times more of the MyCore product to bring the total spore counts up to what I originally stated.
