I'm looking for 4 mil clear greenhouse film and am wondering if anyone knows of an affordable source. I'm ideally looking for sheets that are 42'x 30'. Thanks for your input.

I have trouble finding anything other than the 10'x100' sizes at Lowes or Home Depot. Let me know if you find anything. Last year I even tried duct-taping sheets together. That didn't work too well, as the plastic tends to have some powdery film on it.......
10 feet is too narrow, but 12 to 15 would be perfect for what I want to try next year.

Previous years, I have used 20' X 100' from Home Depot. Due to the high price of oil, I paid nearly $70 a roll last year.....twice what I paid in 2004.

I've used Farmtek for several other items & find them to be reliable & generally competitive. Check around & make sure to get a freight quote before committing.
I haven't purchased any real greenhouse film in a while. Indeed last time I got a roll it was free. We used 6 mil UV stabilized that was rated for 3 years & we got 4 out of it. I got it from a guy who was covering a larger house & this was his left overs. You might ask around at local greenhouse operations to see if they're recovering any houses.
The 6 mil film from Home Depot I would barely recommend for cloches. One season is all I've ever gotten out of it before it looses it's integrity & rips in the wind.

Cool... I've been there with the 6 mil plastic from HD. I barely get two months out of it before it's ripped to shreds.

yah the 6 mil rips easy and is faded usally after a good summer of sun, with the movement of the huts every year, and the snow laying on the huts, i usually put plastic on every year. The 6 mil stuff works well though. I usually get it in a 1000 sq ft role for 35 dollars, it does around 8 greenhouses 8 x 8 x 4. It would take more if i actually closed in the ends but i dont.. i know there is a type of cloth or something along that line that keeps the heat in and would allow the sun in, but dont know how much that stuff cost or what its actually is called lol.

the reason the home depot plastic fails is it is not UV hardened protected aka (it is meant to be used as a drop cloth not green house cover.

I would think in the long run buying UV protected greenhouse plastic is the way to go. I have had it last upward of 7 years. The only plactic I would buy from the big boxes would be the reinforced construction plactic. At least when the plactic gets a hole in it the fibers hold it all together. Farmtek, like Tremor says, is a good source. With todays information highway it shouldn't be to hard to find a source nearest you. Late Scott.

see my posting on General Bulletin board regarding cold frames/hot houses. Great product at $30 each. No more storage issues for large cold frames and needing to replace the plastic.

I just got some 4 mil 20'x 100' rolls from the local Menard's for about $50 per roll (was about $30 a year ago). This stuff has gotten expensive and it is heavy so any mail order place will have high shipping costs.
