I'm sure this announcement will cause no great upheaval in the world of giant pumpkin growing but I figured I should post it here anyway for the benefit of those who donated seeds.
I've closed Seed Outlet because [insert lame excuse here]. Actually the excuses aren't that lame but they are probably of little interest to anyone so I won't bore you with the details. If you want interesting then consider just believing one of these excuses:
- I could not compete with overseas competition from China - Global warming caused by George Bush's enviromental policies caused my computer to overheat - I am dead - I could not keep up with expanding product lines like Caribbean cruises, beach condos and autographed pictures of Brett Hester - A Walmart opened up next door to me - Russ Feingold asked me to run on his ticket in '08
All seeds left in inventory will be returned to their rightful owners beginning this coming week. I think I have everyones address still but if I can't find one I will post here to get it. It shouldn't take too terribly long.

I'm real sad to see this close; it has been the best source of seeds for me the last several years. Both in 2004 and 2005 the VWO package produced my biggest pumpkins. I wish to extend my thanks to Brent for my success and I know what a Wal-Mart, Menards, or a Lowe store next door can do. Best of luck in you future endeavors. Bill

Brent a person can on do so much. It was a great concept and provided a way for growers to distribute and receive seeds. A lot of people have asked us to expand the Giant Veggie Exchange to new growers. It is alot of work. So I commend you for what you did do. Shannon P.S. You can come to Wisconsin and cook for us anytime..BBQ :)

Brent, your VWO idea was a really good one. It got seeds planted that may never have been planted at all. I will always be grateful for the idea as it led to a new European True Green Record in 2005. Something I never would have imagined, but came to be because I took part.
Thanks again, and I hope we see you around the message boards and a diary this year.
