Im off next week for spring break and well me and sis figure this is a good time to get the patch almost ready the weathers been in the upper 40s the ground its cold but the dirt is loose at least the stuff i pitchforked. My question is we want to add compost and manure to the patch and do the spring tilling the week im off is this possible the ground dry just cold and we want to be ready for planting in may i know its awhile away but we want a chance for the compost and manure to settle awhile before growing, Can we till this next week?

as long as the soil is dry,,,,have "atter" I say !!!
Get that stuff mixed in and the worms a chance to get going on it all, as that soil warms they will become active.

I'm still waiting on meltdown of the froszen tundra,,grrr

Tracy if the soil is dry then do it. If it is still wet below the surface and you start to get clumps when tilling then stop. Adding manure at this point in the game you want to make sure it is nice and aged. If not only put it on thin. If you have 1 yr or older stuff then put it on as thick as you can girl. I would use a little gypsum also. Going into it blind (without a soil test) I would put on 40-50 lbs per 1000 sq ft. Good luck!
