I'm looking to add some Boron to the patch. What are some good and safe products I can use? Not Foliar. Thanks Scott.

Boron can be very toxic if added at too high an ammount. Never add without a soil test confirming the need and the ammount. Most farm fertilizer dealers will carry Boron materials. You may have difficulty finding farm supplies is Alaska, Borax may be your best bet. Remember...a little goes a long way!

Listen to them on this one! Whatever you think is a small amount, it should be smaller. Be careful with that stuff.

My Boron reading is at 1.2 ppm. This is considered in the Medium range. So as you can see....it doesn't take much!

Drugstores have it. Boric acid powder. It's used as an eye wash. I'd rather add too little than too much. I have just added a couple tablespoons to a sprayer tank full of water and then just applied it throught the sprayer onto the surface of the soil over the whole patch prior to tilling. I know this seems a bit haphazard. But I haven't ever come up with an exact amount to use and I haven't done any apparent harm using this method.

I thought about using 20 Mule Team Borax but I like the sounds of the Boric acid powder better. If you can use it as an eye wash it should be safe enough for the patch.(cabbage patch) I will go easy, thanks everybody. Later Scott.

When I lived in Texas I ran across a roach killing powder called "roach proof".It is boric acid. Might be cheaper.
