I want to thank all of you who've been emailing me privately with suggestions on the parameters of my little color experiment!! As well as those who've provided seedstock from consistant ancestry. Since I've got the time off (springbreak) I will be going through all of the varieties I've received - and selecting those with the most consistant ancestry - to start the 2-3 generations of 'selfing' that I will be doing.
I think I'll be able to 'squeeze' possibly 2 'generations' of the 'lesser maximas' into this summer's growing season. (P and F-1 generations) and possibly a third generation (F-2) in a greenhouse over the winter. So maybe there will be some insights into inheritance of the 'Maximas' by next spring.
Does anyone have Dill's email? I would love to find out which squash/pumpkin strains he used in the early development of the AG.
