Can anyone help direct me to a source to purchase the top hoop/ring with clevis for use with the pumpkin lifting straps? I've got the straps and have searched online unsuccessfully for the circular spreader to connect the straps to. Appreciate your help in locating one. Thanks, George

Mike and Steve, thanks for the amazing quick replies with great leads for the lifting ring. This site is a powerful source of information.
Mike, I've seen your lifting ring in one of your posts. You have the ultimate setup with the digital scale to boot. It looks like your ready to lift a >1500 # Orange monster.
Also, Thanks again to both of you for sharing seeds with a newbie. Becky and I have learned much over the winter, and hope to produce at least one big orange one from our four plants in 2006. Regards, George

dont really need a ring if your straps have eyelets on each end, just put the eyelet on the chain hoist hook and the other end with the rope that goes around the bottom of the pumpkin..i'll try and put up a photo if needed

You can make a ring out of a small, metal wheel, such as a trike wheel. Wrap the straps around the ring using the spokes to keep them apart, then chain loops to a point for the lifting mechanism. Play around with it and you'll figure out a good way to make it work. TEST IT FIRST, before you lift your 1,852 pounder this fall.

Yes, be sure to test it. Test it on a boulder, on a tree trunk, on a 100K$ Porsche, but by all means test it. (What would you rather lose, the Porsche, or the pumpkin? C'mon, think about it. LOL!) AleX Noel.
