As a rookie this spring, I was just wondering what to expect. My question is...
What is everyones first year weights? Did you improve in your second year? Thanks.

First year was last year. Split one at 684 (est) and grew one to 1095, finished 8th at Canfield weighoff. I learned a lot last year and with my starting line-up I should improve. If I don't, it's all my fault.

My first year was 2004. i grew one pumpkin to 570 lbs. did not have a clue to what i was doing until half way thru the season when i found bp.com. 2005 was a different story. i set a new personal best at 730 lbs. and had 3 more over 600 and a couple in the 500+ lb range. this year i hope to break 800 lbs. i set my goals low so i don't get discouraged.

My best last year was a 77lb Big Max which I was happy with, so I am counting that as my first year. Hopefully I will beat it.

My first year was last year and I got one up to 167. I was happy with it, but this year with ammendments to the soil, and my killer line-up, I am looking forward to breaking records. Have fun, I'm sure you will.

2002 = technical first year with AG, tossed seeds in hay bale in grass, 8 lb.'s! Yes 8. 2003 = followed Don's book barely, 370.6 2004 = 516, others 2005 = 720.6, real setbacks this year 2006 = going for it all! With good info, 500 is reachable with no huge problems. AleX Noel.

My first year was around 100 pounds which was 12 years ago 1994 trying hard. now I could do several 200 pounders with no care at all, and checking the patch once a week and a splash of water...It is amazing how much knowledge you can obtain from hands on experience, especially over the prep of the soil which is the most important factor in growing a 100 pounder or a 1500 pounder....get your hands dirty, and happy growing..JK

1sy year with store seeds: 176.6. 2nd year with better seeds (804 Carlson) my son and I grew a 633.5 and a 449 on the same plant. We has a couple other 400+ on other plants. Last year we had a couple split at 500+. The week before weighoff we lost an 800+ and a 700+ that matured too quick and rotted. We ended up with officail weights of 437 and 398. We are shooting for 1000+ this year (wishful thinking).
