Gordon,
It's only been raining all day up here in Idaho. But the snow level is at about 5000 feet. We're at 4500 feet and the snow is all over the mountains. I think this is going to be a very late spring for us. -Cliff

The storm shot around the colorado rockies due to the elevation gain and dumped on the high peaks, then went toward Nebraska and the northern eastern plains of colo. we will see lots of wind and more drought on the plains of the front range with lots of wildfires....darn wind seems it never lets up.....I feel for the wyoming growers, as it is far worse there I will bet with the wind and maybe the drought in some parts..Happy growing

Flat out blizzard here right now. It wouldn't be that bad if not for the 45 MPH winds.
School was just canceled.

Oh my do we have rain and snow in California! When will it stop! Sierras have record snow fall and look to receive another 4-6 feet the coming week. Mammouth Mountain has had over 650" so far with much more to come. Most weather folks agree no end in sight.

Count your blessings boys! I'd rather have snow than these twisters!! Between the sirens going off in Nashville and all surrounding college campuses - I drove home early since my kid's chool system let out 2 hours early...
Then I got home, realized that tornados were on the ground in the Northern part of the county - and my kid's bus was 20-30 minutes from being done with it's route!! I called Channel 5 news and begged the lady to have the weatherman tell the school system to get those kids in some buildings!! Thankgod he announced it within 1 minute - then the schoolsystems in this county and all surrounding counties announced 5 minutes later that all buses had been ordered to nearest school...
I've never felt that kind of fear!! Never want to again! You KNOW your kid's in a safer building than your house - but you don't KNOW which school their at!!!!
Vol State got hit real hard. A huge neighborhood of 5,000-6,000 square foot BRICK houses was LEVELED. And I think around 10 dead so far....
My school system put the kids back on the buses the second the first wave left the county. we had 1 hour or so before the next wave hit... Buses made it...
And several buses ended up pulling 4X4s out of the ditches they 'hid in' and got stuck in...

I agree with Gordon,,we all bitch about our weather,,but after last years devastating storms and this start to the tornado season we all should be counting our blessings.
to "scienceteacher":
Glad the kids made it home safe, the nightly news has kept the country and the world informed about the damage in Tn,,but we don't have to live with the aftermath.
Best of luck, our thoughts and prayers are with you !!

There are both advantages and disadvantages to not working in the same school system you reside in.....
Apparently, the teachers in Dickson split as fast as we did. (We're only REQUIRED to stay 15 minutes after.. Unless you're a coach or on bus patrol)
Got to be thankful for the bus drivers and administration!!!
