what can be added to the soil to bring down the nitogen levels?
the last few years i have been having polination problems do to high levels of nitogen in my soil test.
everything seems to be high . like phosphuros and potash along with the nitrogen.

What does the soil test say about the ppm?

There have been growers with readings over 1000 ppm and had no problems with pollination. It must be a particular combination of factors.

Bio mass, such as semi raw compost or straw. Just my 2-cents, oh and dont add any more N! Nitrogen moves quickly in the soil, till in the bio mass and water/rains should reduce the levels considerably.

My soil had the same issue (minorly), and a couple guys around here are dying out from it. It's from too much manure in the examples I've seen. It's never ruined a pol. in my patch to my knowledge, but the leaves and vines bloat and crack unnaturally. I just don't use N fert., and held off on manure this year. AleX Noel.

Nitrogen on a soil test report is an estimate based on the "percent organic matter". There is no real extraction in the lab. That aside:

Dicyandiamide is a nitrogen inhibitor that blocks the microbial conversion of ammonium nitrogen to nitrate nitrogen. It does this by suppressing the bacteria the fuel the process from organic matter.

We're our own worst enemies with all of the manures we use. If we could always find aged manures & compost we'd see fewer Nitrogen related fruit aborts & splits.

Don't try to but Dicyandiamide. I don't believe it is available to anyone but fertilizer manufacturers. It is used by Agrotain to manufacture U-Flexx & U-Maxx stabilized Nitrogen fertilizers.

Nitrogen can be drafted down by growing a non-legume Nitrogen loving crop like grass, then cropping it off (not tilling in). However this would require taking a season off.

Go easy on applied fertilizers. Abstain entirely from applied N & you should be OK until the fresher organic materials have decayed & bit & the soil has settled down a bit.
